One of the obstacles for drone applications is the ban on flying Beyond Visual Line Of Sight (BVLOS). The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, the Province of Drenthe, UMCG Ambulance Services, ANWB Medical Air Assistance BV, TU Delft, and the NLR National Navigation and Space Travel Laboratory are jointly conducting a BVLOS-experiment. The experiment consists of a number of test flights with unmanned aircraft focusing on the user’s scenario of “Urgent transport of medical goods between Lauwersoog and Schiermonnikoog”.

The purpose of this experiment is to gain experience that can be used as input for future business case(s), safety, national government regulations, and knowledge development for the drone sector regarding the use of drones.
